Jerry King is a housing developer in the central city of St.
Louis. He is father of 6 and grandfather of 4. With his wife Marty, he
volunteers at the Catholic Worker shelter. Jerry was a co-founder of the group
Instead of War, which led the St. Louis area protests against the invasion of
Iraq in 2003. Previously he was arrested for a non-violent demonstration at
Scott Air Force Base in 1998 during the bombing of Baghdad.
Marty King is a retired reading teacher, mother, and
grandma. She enjoys her time
volunteering in the St. Louis city schools, and at the Catholic Worker House, a
shelter for women and children.
Hedy Epstein credits her experience as a Nazi
Holocaust survivor as the leading influence behind her efforts to promote human
rights, social justice & peace.
For Hedy, 81 yrs. old, "remembering is not enough."
Mark Chmiel teaches Social Justice in the Theology Department
at Saint Louis University. He is a
resident of Forest Park Southeast, and a member the Center for Theology and
Social Analysis. He is faculty
moderator of the student group, SLU Solidarity with Palestine, and he worked
with the International Solidarity Movement in Israeli-occupied Gaza and West
Bank in the fall and winter of 2003. He is the author of Elie Wiesel and the
Politics of Moral Leadership (2001) and The Book of Mev (2005).
Stephanie Eriksen of Raleigh, NC, is a member of Code
Pink. She is the mother of three
children and wants to pass them a more peaceful world.
Kathy Kelly, of Chicago, IL, is co-coordinator of Voices for
Creative Nonviolence, a campaign to end the war against Iraq, the occupation,
and end the Great War on Terror.
Josh McIntyre, of Raleigh, NC, is a member of
Amnesty International, Group 213.
Jerry Surh, of Carrborro, NC, is a member of the North
Carolina Green Party.
Bill Ramsey lived in High Point and Durham, NC. for 13 years
prior to moving to St. Louis in 1980. He worked for the American Friends
Serivce Committee for 21 years and presently coordinates the Human Rights
Action Service and St. Louis Justice and Peace Shares. He is the father of five
children and lives in an urban community in St. Louis.
Bernadette Rider OĠNeill, is a co-founder of the Father
Charlie Mulholland Catholic Worker in Garner, NC. She is a senior at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh.
Dianne Lee is a community college professor, wife, mother,
and grandmother. A member of St.
Cronan Catholic Church, Dianne lives her faith through commitment to
non-violence and a recognition of the inherent dignity of all members of the
human family.
Louise Lears is a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati
and member of the Pastoral Team at St. Cronan Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO.
She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in medical ethics and the spirituality
of nonviolence.
Patrick OĠNeill is the co-founder of the Father
Charlie Mulholland Catholic Worker House in Garner, NC. He is a peace activist, writer, and
father of eight.
Debbie Biesack, of Fuquay Varina, NC, is the mother
of 3 daughters and a member of the Father Charlie Mulholland Catholic Worker.
Andrew Wimmer, of St. Louis, MO, is a member of the
Core Community of the Center for Theology and Social Analysis. He is the father of two sons and
teaches social justice and peacemaking at St. Louis University.
